Late Goal Lifts Brooks over Zebras in Girls' Soccer

10/6/2014 8:08:00 AM

Middlesex travelled to North Andover to take on the Bishops of Brooks School. The Zebras came off the bus with determination and a fighting spirit. For the first ten minutes, Middlesex controlled much of the possession but Brooks battled back and scored their first goal from outside the eighteen when the Zebras failed to step to the ball.

However, Middlesex continued to work hard and was committed to the team formation and it showed in the buildup of solid offensive chances and gritty defensive plays. Middlesex went into the half down by one goal. However, Isabelle '17 found the net quickly in the second half to even the score.

The Zebras continued to win 50/50 balls and moved the ball well with composure and speed. Middlesex had numerous offensive chances with excellent balls played by Isabelle '17, Jac '17, and Lucy '17. With less than ten minutes left to go in the half, Brooks broke through with a well executed through ball to put one more in the back of the net. Middlesex continued to control the ball and pressed offensively but the Zebras were unable to capitalize on their offensive chances. Middlesex will continue to work towards a league win when they host Governor's Academy on Wednesday, October 8th at 3:00 PM.
