Middlesex took the long bus drive up to Exeter on Wednesday. It proved to be a worthwhile trip with the Zebras returning home with their second straight win. For the first fifteen minutes of the game, Middlesex struggled to find its rhythm and to settle the ball down as they acclimated to Exeter's bumpy field. However, the Zebras settled in and started to possess and move the ball well. However, it was not until the second half when the Zebras first found the net from a cross by Shannon '16 to the far post where Kiara '17 and Natalie '15 were charging towards the ball and Kiara was able to tap it past the Exeter goalie. Middlesex continued to dominate and winning 50/50 balls with excellent steps by Caroline '17, Kate '15, Mary '16, and Mari '16 in the backfield. The Zebras executed their halftime goals beautifully by switching the field, playing quickly, and making swift supporting runs.
Middlesex scored for their second time when Isabelle '17 played an outstanding through ball to Shannon '16, whose explosive speed enabled her to have a one on one with the Exeter keeper. Shannon '16 passed the ball easily into the back of the net. Middlesex continued its momentum and nearly had another goal when Isabelle '17 chipped a perfect ball over the Exeter defense to a swarm of Zebras inside the box. The Exeter goalie made a dynamic save keeping the final score at 2-0. Middlesex will use these next five practices to prepare for another I.S.L matchup on Wednesday, November 5th home against BB&N at 2:30 PM.Â
