In the last home race of the season, Middlesex was led by seniors in a decisive victory over Governor's Academy. Senior Captain Mahal Alvarez-Backus won the second race of her season (and 8th of her career), running unopposed for most of the course. Junior Sonia Tremblay finished third in the race, followed by junior Phoebe Lindsay (in a Home Course PR) in 5th, sophomore Julia McClellan in 6th, and junior Emily Arnold in 7th. With five scoring runners in the top seven, Middlesex won the varsity race.Â
The top seven for Middlesex also included Raphaele Sevrain (in a Home Course PR) in 9th place and Jenni Welch in 11th. Also finishing ahead of the Governor's 5th runner was sophomore Olivia Gish (who was the first "JV" runner to cross the line), senior captain Madeleine Mullaney, smiling senior Alex Schoen, sophomore Gabriella Resnick, junior Caroline Price, and senior Zarena Jafry. Sarah Binda had a PR for the season and our course, and Ericka Ekhator ran her best race of the season. Also posting a home course PR was freshman Valerie Chen, freshman Emily Li, junior Cally Queally, senior Louise Skelton, and freshman Lucy Hirsch. Hannah Beermann ran her first race of the season.
The varsity team record now stands at 6-5 (6-4 in the ISL), while the JV team is 7-4 (7-3 in the ISL). We have one more regular season meet, next Friday on the magical Rivers course.
