The Middlesex Zebras battled it out until the end against a talented Milton opponent on Saturday, September 28.

Throughout the first half, Milton continued to press against the Zebra backline, winning 50/50 balls and passing quickly. Middlesex however, was resilient with its steady pressure, good defensive positioning and outstanding play by Christina '14 in net. As the half wore down, Milton became visibly frustrated and Middlesex initiated some dangerous offensive threats when Lucy '17 hit the cross bar and Natalie '15 nearly headed the ball beyond Milton's keeper.

At halftime, the score remained 0-0. Milton adjusted its line-up and Middlesex strengthened its resolve to win the 50/50 battles and with less than 20 minutes left in the half, Middlesex had possession and the momentum of hitting another crossbar and just missing an outstanding corner kick from Isabel '17. From there, the game went back and forth with each team sharing possession and Milton was finally able to capitalize off of a rebound to put one in the back of the net. Middlesex regrouped quickly and re-launched its attack with some hard running by Shannon '16 up top and excellent defending by Natalie '15 and Mari '16 in the midfield and Shannon '17, Mary '16 and Kate '15 in the back, however, time ran out.

Despite the loss, it was a valiant effort by Middlesex who will continue its hard work, commitment to the team concept and finishing in the final third as it gears up for another tough I.S.L opponent on Wednesday, October 2^nd against Lawrence Academy.
