Zebras Top Dragons 9-6

5/26/2013 9:12:00 AM

The Middlesex girls' varsity tennis team completed their season by defeating rival St. George's School 9-6.  Due to the rainy weather conditions the match was played inside the St. George's field house.

The team began by playing the number one through four singles.  Seniors Anita Kodali and Nikita Kodali both swept their matches and junior Olivia Dewey split her sets to help build a 5-3 lead for the Zebras.  Freshman Sophia Corning soon took to the court and powered her way to a dominating win of 6-2, 6-1.  That left the team just one set away from clinching the match and that would happen in a tie breaker won by junior April Simms.  The Kodali sisters would add to the point total with a win in number two doubles to make the final score 9-6.  The win capped a terrific season for the team and sent the seniors out on a high note.  Special recognition goes to our senior captain Emma Satterthwaite Muresianu who was a terrific leader for our team.

The 2013 girls' varsity tennis team finished the season with a record of 11-5.  All members of the team would like to thank the parents who supported us throughout the season.  Whether at home or on the road, we always had a very loyal following.  We would also like to thank Coach Lang, Ms. Philpot and Ms. Stefanowicz for all of their efforts during the busy season.
