The Zebras were slow to get off the bus and find their legs in the first 15:00 minutes of the game against a talented St. George’s squad. The Dragons, however, came out breathing fire and scored three unanswered goals in the first two minutes of the game. Middlesex called a time-out to regroup, energize and focus and went on to score a quick goal. The momentum continued to swing in favor of the Dragons as they won draw controls, ground ball battles and moved the ball quickly on the transition. Nonetheless, the Zebras made a few game adjustments and started to gain possession and offensive opportunities. The traditional rivals went into halftime even.
Both teams shared possession in the second half and the scoreboard reflected a closely contested final game. Middlesex was forced to implement a stall in the final minutes to protect its one goal lead. As the clock and the regular season wound down, Middlesex captured its final team victory and secured a second place finish in the competitive ISL.
