Boys' Varsity Basketball Paces Past St. Sebastian's

2/12/2013 10:39:00 AM

Senior Alex Sadie is playing the best basketball of his MX career. After earning the right to start most of the season, Al was moved to the 6th man role for the past few games and  is shining in his new role.  The Cambridge, MA native has made seven 3pt baskets over his last three games, none of which were as important however, as the corner jump shot with Middlesex trailing St. Sebs 46-40 with under 5 minutes to go.

Despite a 24-16 lead at the half, the Zebras struggled finding the net in the 2nd half.  Sadie made two 3-pt fgs in the 2nd half where he made eight of his 11 points.  Senior Jobeir Blake had a terrific outing with 12 points, dominating the first half of the game.  Junior co-captain Jon Siu had 12 points while fellow junior co-captain Aaron Swenson had nine.

Middlesex finished the game on a 12-2, as it made a season best 75%(9-12) from the free throw line.  The defense was anchored by senior Nick Widen(4 pts), junior Peter Beatty(4 pts), and freshman Jack Lyne(2 pts).  The second consecutive win gets Middlesex to 12-8 on the season, eclipsing the 11 win total from last season with 4 games remaining.

MX will play at home vs Groton on Wednesday at 4:30pm.  The Zebras will then hit the road on Saturday the 16th to face Belmont Hill at 2pm.
