Middlesex lost its season opener 23-48 against a talented Governor's squad on Wednesday evening in Concord, MA.
Both teams started the game tentatively but eventually Governors opened up a 14-1 lead. Middlesex earned a few baskets with some solid defense by senior captain Charlotte Silk and sophomore Ericka Ekhator and ended the half down 21-14.
In the second half, Govenors was able to open a sizable lead by scoring in transition as the Middlesex offense sputtered throughout the game. Junior captain Jenna Doherty played well on both ends of the court; she caused many deflections, was able to get to the line frequently, and as a result scored a team high nine points.
Middlesex looks to build off of this effort in its upcoming game against BBN on Friday, December 13 in Cambridge, MA.
