After a week off from ISL competition, Middlesex traveled to Cambridge to take on the Knights of BB&N.
The hosting team came out strong, putting the Zebras back on their heels. With some powerful defensive play by Kate '15, Lucy '17, Shannon '17, Caroline '17, Middlesex was able to thwart the Knights attack until about three quarters of the way through the first half when BB&N was finally able to capitalize on a failed defensive clear. Nonetheless, a few minutes later, the Zebras countered with Shannon '16 taking the ball to the baseline and playing it back to Natalie '15 crashing to the near post. The shot went beyond the goal and Middlesex went into halftime down by one goal.
The Zebras came out in the second half ready to rally to win the 50/50 balls and play a more settled game. Despite some strong offensive chances, Middlesex was still unable to capitalize on its chances. The Knights scored their second goal when a strong defensive clear from the midfield placed the ball above Erica's '15 hands. Middlesex continued to press, but the Knights held strong until the final whistle and Middlesex came up empty handed.
The Zebras will regroup and gear up to slay the mighty St. George's Dragons at home on Saturday at 2pm.
