It was a crisp and beautiful Parents' Weekend celebration on Saturday when the Zebras hosted another tough I.S.L opponent, Thayer Academy. Both teams were battling for a league win and it was an exciting afternoon for the Zebras.

Middlesex executed an excellent team game from start to finish with quick ball movement, dynamic runs up top, and gutsy defensive plays in the back. Middlesex got onto the scoreboard midway through the first half when Dakota '14 played a dangerous splitting ball through the Thayer defense to send Shannon '16 into the box one on one with the Thayer goalie. Middlesex continued its strong play, dominating possession and winning 50/50 battles deep into the second half and were able to score again when Isabelle '17 ripped a shot from the top of the 18 in a hard won battle.

As the clock wound down, Thayer continued to press and challenge the Zebra defense and with more gutsy plays in the back, Middlesex was able to thwart many of their chances. However, Thayer was awarded a penalty kick with two minutes to go because of a scrum in front of Erica '15 in goal. Thayer capitalized on this opportunity and got onto the scoreboard. Middlesex was able to hold onto the lead however, and the final whistle blew with Middlesex up by one and with a league "W" now on the record books.

Middlesex will look to carry this momentum into another tough match-up when we host Exeter on Wednesday, October 30^th at 2:45pm.
