Zebras Rally to Top Knights

10/22/2013 9:53:00 AM

Middlesex continued their winning ways against a very tough and determined BBN team,  eventually winning the thrilling match 2-1.

Due to the terrific serving by BBN, Middlesex fell behind early in the first game, losing 21-12 at one point, before thundering back in dramatic fashion.  Though the comeback in the game fell short (23-25), the Zebras gained confidence and took the second game in decisive fashion 25-9.

The third game was a back and forth affair with Middlesex eventually pulling ahead and winning the game, 25-23 and match 2-1.  This match featured some of the season's best rallies as well as our strongest hitting. Freshman Lily Renneker and Lydia  Paddock had their best hitting game of the season putting down several spikes each.  Setter Abby Meyers, coming back from injury, was awarded the game ball due to her strong defense and the consistency of hers sets.  Junior Captain Rose Marie Fuchs was awarded the "Big Mama Passer" award for passing with a 64% accuracy rate and very few errors.  Sophomore Alyssa McNally was awarded the "Ms. Supa Server Award" for completing 100% of her serves, 67% of which were placed in a tough location for the defense.  Freshman setter Erin Brady came into match at a critical point juncture and converted several passes to hittable sets while playing credible defense.

What we are most proud of is that in the tight moments of the match, the Middlesex players stayed connected with each other and came together to play as a team.
