Zebras Stymied by Bulldogs

10/20/2013 3:36:00 PM

The Zebras came out strong against a tough Nobles team on Saturday, October 19 in Dedham, MA.

For the first twenty minutes of the game, Middlesex executed a disciplined team system moving the ball and pressuring quickly. There were several scoring opportunities and some dangerous runs in the final third by Isabelle '17, Shannon '16, Natalie '15, Dakota '14. Despite our offensive press, it was Nobles who was able to score first when the Bulldogs snuck a ball into the goal on a far-post run. Middlesex rallied, but found themselves a bit more on their heels as the first half wound down. As a result, Nobles notched their second goal just before the whistle.

With some injuries and illness plaguing the Zebras, Middlesex adjusted their line up, but were unable to find a consistent rhythm, despite some inspired play by Arushi '14 out on the wing, and Shannon '17 in virtually every position on the field, and Kate '15 and Caroline '16 in our central defense. Nobles was able to score two more times as Middlesex suffered some defensive breakdowns. However, Erica '15 in goal was exceptional and stopped two penalty kicks to leave the final score at 4-0.

Middlesex will take some time to get healthy and recover and gear up for another tough ISL match-up against Rivers on Wednesday, October 23rd at 3:30pm.
