10/17/2013 9:39:00 AM

It was a great team win today as the Zebras had a decisive 3-0 win over Dana Hall.

Right from the start, Middlesex played a disciplined game with excellent passing out of the back and with dangerous combinations in the final third. Caroline '16 and Kate '15 led the defense well, challenging 50/50 balls and Lucy '17 and Caroline '17 were key elements in our team offense making overlapping runs from the back and playing balls into the box. Shannon '17, Mari '16,Ali '14,  and Caroline '14 were outstanding in the middle of the field, switching the point of attack and exposing the Dana Hall defense with their quick changes of momentum. Isabelle '17, Shannon '16 and Julia '15 were dangerous on the wings with their speed, tenacity and well timed runs. In fact, midway through the first half, Shannon '16 was able to capitalize on a well executed direct kick by Caroline '16 through the Dana defense to put the Zebras on the scoreboard first. Moments later, Isabelle '17 secured the second goal of the game, battling for a rebound in the box on a shot from Shannon '16.

The Zebras went into the second half up by two goals. Middlesex continued their possession game throughout the second half and applied the pressure offensively. Natalie '15 and Arushi '14 played well up top, settling the ball and executing dangerous passes out to the wings. As a result, the Zebras scored their third goal when Shannon broke through the Dana defense and chipped the ball over the goaltender's head.

Overall, it was a well played, well executed, team effort. Middlesex looks to carry this momentum into their next tough I.S.L match-up against Nobles on Saturday in Dedham at 2pm.
