The girls' varsity cross-country team fell to Groton today by a score of 25- 32. Tired from a tough week of training, the team as a whole did not have their best day on the trails. Nonetheless, Middlesex had 28 girls start the race on a picturesque Friday afternoon.
The varsity pack ran an aggressive and courageous race, but Groton was the faster team, despite gutsy individual performances from the whole team, especially Talya Kramer, Rowena Schenck, Sonia Tremblay, and Phoebe Lindsay.
The JV pack was inspirational, led by Raphaele Sevrain.Middlesex had nine girls in a three minute interval, all ahead of Groton's 11th (3rd JV). Had the team scored the JV race, Middlesex would have come up on top. Katie Bull and Eugenia Nosyreyva did a great job in their first races of the season, and Charlotte Silk, Olivia Gish, and Polly Messuwandecha posted great improvements on a tough away course.
The team hits the road on Wednesday, October 16 for a 3:30pm race against St. Paul's.
