Middlesex shook off the hour long bus ride and cruised to a 3-0 halftime lead before adding one more in the second half for an away victory versus Governor's Academy.
The scoring opened in the 6
th minute when freshman James Sanderson buried a corner kick that had been advanced by senior Teddy Rausch. In the 10
th minute Govs keeper Dan Kim made the save of the day on a curling left foot shot from Gavin Tasker. In the 35
th minute junior defender Logan Hallowell buried a header from a corner service from senior Sean Pensavalle. Pensavalle was again the provider just before halftime as his ball found sophomore Jivan Purutyan for the 3-0 advantage.
In the second half the Governors boys fought with a resilient sense of purpose and helped to balance out the game until Tasker was brought down in the box for a penalty that was neatly dispatched by junior Dan Carlson for the final tally. Both teams kept a clean disciplinary record and Govs was led by the strong play of senior Colby King.
Middlesex hits the road again on Friday, October 11 for a 2:30pm ISL showdown against Groton.
