The Middlesex 4th boat started the day out strong by posting a 14 second improvement over their time from the week before. Even though they ended up losing to BB&N by 15 seconds, John set a long, steady stroke that the boys maintained all the way down the course.
The 3rd boat got off to a strong start, but quickly let the stroke rating drop too far, and found themselves 2 boat-lengths down bythe 750m mark.
Next, the Middlesex 2nd boat bolted off of the line, taking an early lead on BB&N. By 500m in, BB&N has caught backup, and the two boats rowed even through the 750. With about 650 left, BB&N took up the stroke rating and moved through Middlesex, eventually winning by 11 seconds.
The 1st boat race was the barn burner of the day. Both crews were fast off the line, with Middlesex taking a 1-2 seat lead for the first 350. BB&N pulled back even by 500m in, at which point the two boats rowed side-by-side for most of the rest of the race. Coming through the 750, BB&N had taken a slight lead, which Middlesex closed coming into the last 400m. Neck and neck through the sprint, BB&N knocked up the rating to a 37 and crossed the line 1.1 seconds ahead of Middlesex.
Thank you to BB&N for a great day of racing.
