The Zebras welcomed back Middlesex alumnus Peter Brock and the Barrington High School lacrosse team for an inaugural match. A perennial powerhouse in Rhode Island, the Eagles sought to gain more competition in a friendly, yet competitive game at Brock's alma mater.
Middlesex came out strong with exceptional ball and off-ball movement, leading to four quick goals. Barrington fought back adding five tallies before the half, two on crucial free positions and one on the rare "goalie off-sides" call. Hads '12 opened the second half with a solid goal, but the Eagles made the game interesting by coming back and bringing the game to 9-7. The Zebras then went on a scoring frenzy, notching seven unanswered goals by six different players. The play of the game came off a vocally-orchestrated "give-and-go" that allowed Irene '14 to finish the scoring at 16 for the Zebras. "Batie" '12 dominated the stats with two goals, an assist, three groundballs, and an interception. Hads '12, "Sandy" '13, and "Katnip" '13 combined for six caused turnovers and "Burns" '12 and "Tink" '12 combined for 7 goals.
Middlesex will host Groton on Friday, May 4 at 4:30pm.
