Sophomore Joe's one out base hit up the middle scored Drew '14 and Max '14 and led Middlesex to a stunning 2-1 upset over St. Sebastian's in ISL baseball play on Wednesday afternoon. The win was the second of the season for Middlesex (2-6), while St. Sebastian's fell to 6-2.
The game proved to be a pitcher's duel between Middlesex freshman Zach and St. Sebastian's Justin Bellinger. Both pitchers escaped early jams before St. Sebastian's took a 1-0 lead on a bases loaded, two out walk to Bellinger in the top of the fourth inning. Bellinger was in complete control before walking Drew and Max with one out in the bottom of the seventh. A wild pitch on the first pitch to Joe set the stage for his heroics and his ground ball up the middle provided Middlesex with the walk off win.
The victory was the first for Middlesex over St. Sebastian's since 1998. The Zebras travel to Groton to take on their rivals on Saturday at 3:15 p.m.
