Middlesex hosted rival Groton on a cloudy but calm day onthe Concord River – a perfect day for racing.
In the 1st boat race, Middlesex got off the line ahead of Groton, and maintained a lead for the first 300-meters. Groton then gained back a few seats, and the two boats rowed side-by-side through the 750. With about 600-metersto go, Groton started taking seats, and by the line finished just over aboat-length up.
The Middlesex 2nd boat also came off the linehot, and took an early, but brief lead over Groton. By 500 in, Groton was a length up, and quickly put 1 boat-length of open water behind them. Middlesex held on to that margin through the middle of the course, butthen lost touch with them through the last 600 meters of the race.
3rd and 4th boats were outgunned by Groton’s size and power early on, but rowed hard all the way through the finish.
Thank you to Groton for a great day of racing.
