The Zebras took the field for their final match against school rival St. George's. Middlesex dominated from the first whistle by winning draw controls and practicing a patient and fast-moving attack.
Hads '12 and Jeanie '13 opened up the scoring and defender Maddie '14 made a terrific interception on a Dragons' goalie clear and finished the play by hitting the top shelf for her second goal of the season. Isabel '13, Clare '13, Julia '12, Maggie '13, Irene '14, and Ro '14 also added points to finish the half 13-2.
In the second half, CMills '15 notched the first goal and Maggie '13 and Julia '12 added two more to bring the game to 15-2. The St. George's goalie valiantly turned away many shots and she sparked her offense as they put in two consecutive goals. Cici '14 scored her first career goal for Middlesex, causing a new school record- every single person on the Middlesex team, except sole goalie Beeko '14 scored at least one goal. Beeko made 7 saves throughout the game and anchored the "all junior" defensive unit.
In the final two minutes, Devon '12 took the field for the first time since March as she suffered a torn ACL in the first scrimmage down in Florida. As she limped onto the field, the team rallied around her positive energy and worked to get the ball to her behind the cage. She made a nice give and go play and the time expired to end a wonderful season led by the seniors.
