Unselfish play, defensive teamwork, and terrific ball movement led to a solid win for the Zebras. Determined and aggressive, Middlesex came out strong in the first half creating key caused turnovers in the defensive end, and notching seven unanswered goals in the first eighteen minutes of play. "Beeko" '14 made several key saves, frustrating the Nobles attacking unit. Nobles got on the board, scoring two goals in the last minute to close out the half.
In the second half, the teams traded goals until the 9:00 minute mark, and the Zebras held a comfortable 11-5 lead. However, Nobles grabbed a few key possessions and scored three unanswered goals to bring the game within three goals. The tenacious Zebra defense stopped the Nobles run and possession went back to Middlesex for much of the last five minutes of play. Middlesex scored an insurance goal with three minutes remaining and then continued to play with poise to hold on to the 12-8 win.
Maddie '14 won the ground ball battle with four contested pick-ups and "Weens" '14 and "Gnat" '14 combined for four caused turnovers at the defensive end. Seven players scored for the Zebras, demonstrating the unselfish play at the attacking end.
