Each year MX looks forward to playing Brooks. The Brooks team always offers a uptempo, high scoring game and capitalizes in transition. This year's affair was no different, especially as MX was looking to avenge last year's overtime Brooks win. As predicted, the game was uptempo from the beginning.
A game marked by fast break points and clear lanes to the basket, Brooks went into halftime up two points. Brooks came out the second half more organized than MX and took a commanding 10 point lead at one point. MX slowly chipped away and clawed back the whole second half, never leading again until the final 6 seconds of the game. The key was defense. J. Bishop stepped up defensively and shut down Brook's #24, clearly their best player. MX finally was able to stop Brook's point guard #10 by double teaming him and forcing him to go right and commit turnovers.. MX kept driving to the basket and drawing the fouls. M. Petrie played great minutes in the second half. As each game, V. Kolli's offensive game woke up the second half and he lead the charge.
Though never leading the second half, MX took the lead on a basket by V. Kolli with 6 seconds left. MX wins! V. Kolli lead all MX scorers with 16 points followed by C. Lim with 11. Bishop had 5, and Frye, Sanogo and Petre finished with 4 each.
