Standout performances by Hunt '13 and George '15 helped the Middlesex wrestling team clinch the victory as they travelled to Thayer over the weekend. Middlesex won the close match 39 - 33 over an injury riddled Thayer team, depending heavily on their seniors.
Freshman George had nothing but calm confidence as he battled the upperclassman from Thayer and won sealing the victory. With the team up three points going into the final match, George delivered one of his best efforts of the year.
Setting this situation up, the team deserved congratulations for winning the late season battle for having the smaller stack of injuries by a small margin. Hunt '13 pinned his opponent at the 106lb wt. class.
Outstanding matches also wrestled by heavyweight Alex '12, though his 5-0 early scoring lead was negated by a rolling pin, and Gil '12 taking on a "light 220" but fallling short in the final seconds.
Great energy by the team with excellent exhibition matches by Tae Hwan '14, Steven '15 (in his first back after illness), Thad '13, Christian '14, Nick '12, and Brian '14 concluded what someone was heard saying "That was a really fun match and afternoon!".
