Led by some gutsy running by Mahal Alvarez-Backus (1st), Talya Kramer (4th), and Madison Hetzner (5th), seventeen Middlesex runners managed to defeat all their opponents at Brooks today in the biggest field they've seen so far this season. 

Mahal enjoyed her second win in as many races, while Talya and Madison worked together to pass the entire St. Paul's team by the time they crossed the line.  The varsity effort was further helped by Miranda Gish, senior captain Megan Fanning, Agustina Hobbs, and Sonia Tremblay.  Fanning had a big improvement on the day and scored in the varsity race for the first time in her Middlesex career.  Big improvements were also seen for freshmen Ericka Ekhator and Phoebe Lindsay and senior Emily Powers.  In the JV scoring, Middlesex won all contests.
