Middlesex had a great day running against Rivers and BB&N at Elm Bank State Reservation. Twenty-five runners completed the course for Middlesex, and each of them ran a season-best time.
On the competitive side, Middlesex won all contests in the varsity and JV scoring thanks to strong packs and aggressive running from everyone on the team. Mahal Alvarez-Backus took second in the race behind a strong Rivers runner who came within seconds of setting a course record. Talya Kramer and Madison Hetzner worked together throughout the 3.1 miles to challenge BB&N's first runner, but she had more left in the last half mile, finishing just ahead of Talya and Madison in 4th and 5th place. They were closely followed by teammates Megan Fanning in 6th and Miranda Gish in 8th. Sonia Tremblay and Agustina Hobbs rounded out the varsity seven, with Alex Schoen and Phoebe Lindsay very close behind, finishing ahead of the fourth runners from both Rivers and BB&N.
There was so much great running today it's hard to choose only a couple improvements to highlight, but it's worth noting that Rochelle Greenidge took almost 10 minutes off her previous best time, Charlotte Silk was 3.5 minutes faster than 2 years ago, and Aditi Shankar and Jenni Welch were 3 minutes faster than their previous best races this season.
The team looks forward to the coming week and having the chance to rise to all the challenges that mother nature and the ISL championships have to offer.
