Boys' Varsity Cross Country Continues Winning Ways

10/2/2012 1:16:00 PM

On Saturday September 29, Middlesex boys' cross country team raced at Roxbury Latin against Milton Academy, St. Marks, and Roxbury Latin. Varsity and JV swept the field, winning all of the races.

Team captain James Randon and junior runner Garrett O’Toole continued to stand out, capturing the 1stand 2nd place spots with times of 16:34 and 16:56 respectively. Since the course at Roxbury Latin was changed this year, James set another course record. Freshman runner Viraj Deokar impressed many coaches and runners with his 5th place finish and a time of 17:55. Peter Howe, Will Fletcher, and Lucas Estrada also had excellent races that solidified a win for Middlesex.

In the JV race, which preceded the varsity race, Max Rifkin led the team to victory with a first place finish. Because the course had never been raced on, Max also held the course record for about 20 minutes until James Randon broke it. Max was closely followed by Christian Papadellis, Joe Paine, Jay Welsh, and Jordan Phinney, who secured the victory for Middlesex in the JV race.
