Middlesex put forth a great team effort on Friday to defeat Groton before taking a well-earned long weekend.
Groton took the top two places in the individual race despite constant pressure and a late charge from Talya Kramer, but Middlesex runners rallied and passed throughout the five kilometers, taking the next five positions in the race (Talya, Madison Hetzner, Megan Fanning, Miranda Gish, and Sonia Tremblay) to win in the team score. Agustina Hobbs and Alex Schoen finished ahead of Groton's fourth runner, earning key displacement points for the team. Almost all runners posted improved times.
In the JV scoring, Middlesex fell to Groton by one point, despite great races and big improvements from Phoebe Lindsay, Maddie Mullaney, and Charlotte Silk. The team looks forward to another week of training in anticipation of racing on our home course again next week against undefeated Nobles on Parents' Weekend.
