The Middlesex varsity girls' basketball team opened up the ISL season against the talented and tall Governor's Academy squad. Middlesex battled mightily against the twin towers of Governor's who accounted for 41 of their team's 51 points.
Middlesex fell behind 6-0 at the start of the game, and then fought back to a 6-8 margin before Governor's talent junior forward took over the game. Middlesex was led by its three captains who scored 21 of Middlesex's 25 points. Elizabeth '12 led all Middlesex scorers with 9 hard earned points on drives and foul shots. Kathryn '12 hit two three-pointers and another jump shot to score 8 points, and Atiya '12 scored four points off defensive steals.
Varsity newcomers Natalie '15 and Sarah Kate '13 scored their first varsity buckets! Clare '13 led the team with 13 rebounds, and freshman Jenna snagged 5 rebounds as well.
Middlesex looks ahead into Cambridge on Friday to take on BBN.
