The committee on records and statistics alerted the coaches that the results of Friday's match were the end to a twenty-five year run by Milton Academy. The scoreboard after the final forfeit was awarded to Milton resulted in a 39-39 deadlock. The competition and sportsmanship between these two teams has always been of the highest degree, and Friday was no different. They congratulated each other and compliments were exchanged.
But, the committee on records and statistics contacted the MIT rules and finite analysis group which immediately set to finding the winner. It took very good records from the Middlesex manager Tristan and cross checked them with the Milton scorecard and applied the National Federation of High School Wrestling Rule 9-2-2 to the event.
It took seven iterations and the seventh tie-breaker to confirm what the spectators had known all along. Middlesex had won!
With pins by Jeff , Jack , Daniel , Alex and Tae Hwan the contest was won. Tri-Captain Gil O. added a 3-1 victory to the final tally in a very close match. Milton received 3 forfeits to MX's lone forfeit for Hunt Harvey.
The Middlesex wrestlers went 5-3 in Pins and eventually outscored their opponent in the seventh tie-breaker which states " The team having the greater number of first points scored shall be declared the winner".
Congratulations to JV winners Anthony (pin), Nick (pin), George (4-3),
Max (pin), and Robert (11-3).
The team showed tremendous spirit throughout the match. Many parents concluded they hadn't witnessed such well matched teams and good competition and such excitement in recent memory.
