Boy’s Varsity Hockey Opens with a 4-2 Win over Worcester Academy

12/5/2011 11:21:00 AM

The Middlesex boys' varsity hockey team opened up the season with a strong “come- from- behind” victory over Worcester Academy. Despite drastically out-shooting their opponents in the first two periods, the Zebras found themselves facing a one goal deficit entering the third period.

AJ  opened the scoring with a power play goal at 8:24 of the second period to make the score 2-1 on a great pass from Chris. Just over five minutes into the third period, Robbie  took a feed from Harrison  and used his reach to score and tied the game for Middlesex.

Senior Blake then intercepted a pass near the offensive blue line, at 12:59 and let a blast go that beat the Worcester Academy goaltender scoring both the eventual game winner changing the momentum of the contest. Assists went to Dan  and Eric.

With the Worcester goalie pulled for a sixth attacker, Middlesex forward Will, who finished the game with two assists, pressured a Worcester Academy defender in the neutral zone forcing a turnover which resulted in an empty net goal scored by AJ  assisted by Chris and Will.

Senior goalie Mike finished with 23 saves to earn his first win of the season.
