Middlesex traveled into Cambridge to battle high-flying BBN and played one the closest games in recent memory in this long-standing rivalry. Middlesex’s goal was to slow down one of the leading scorers in the league: BBN’s senior guard #31 Skylar, and they were able to hold her to 4 total points for the game through the superb efforts of Atiya ’12 and Jenna ’15 who shared the task of chasing Sklyar around the court. Unfortunately, Middlesex allowed #32 for BBN to hit 5 three-pointers in the first half, as the defensive sets were geared towards stopping #31. Middlesex was carried by Kathryn ‘12’s 10 first half points, including two three-pointers, along with 5 points from Elizabeth ‘12.
Middlesex went into the half time break down 24 to 34, but they came out fast and furious in the second half closing the gap to 4 points. They held BBN to 15 points in the second half while putting 17 of their own points. A defensive adjustment in the second half kept both #31 and #32 to one point in the final 16 minutes of the game. Unfortunately, Middlesex was not able to close the gap at the end of the game, and BBN finished the game on the foul line.
Middlesex was led by Elizabeth ’12 with 11 points and Kathryn ’12 with 10 points, as well seven points from Jenna ’15, six points from Atiya ’12, four points from Clare ’13, and three points from Charlotte ’14. One other highlight is that Jenna ’15 nailed the first three-pointer of her Middlesex career!
