The Middlesex Girls' Varsity Squash team traveled to Connecticut for the National High School Championships, Friday, February 3, through Sunday, February 5. The girls finished the weekend 4-0, capturing the division III championship title.
Middlesex played a deep Greenwich Academy JV in the semifinals, but prevailed in some tight matches lower on the ladder to win the match 7-0. Then we faced Westover in the finals, a veteran team that has won a series of impressive 6-1 or 7-0 victories recently. All matches were hard fought, but junior Jessica P. prevailed in 5 games at #2, senior Lindsey K. in 3 games at #3, junior Emma M. in 3 games at #4, freshman Katie B. in four games at #5, and sophomore Olivia D. in four games at #6, to earn Middlesex the victory. Senior captain Julie W. and senior Emily B. played well, but lost close matches at the #1 and #7 position respectively.
