Boys' Cross Country Completes Season with a Victory at NEPSTA's

11/14/2011 10:00:00 AM

The boys' cross-country team capped an epic season  by defeating a feisty St. George's team for the 3rd time this season and, along the way, defeating 17 other schools (including 5 ISL competitors) to win the NEPSTA Division 3 championship.

Moreover, the Middlesex boys' and girls' teams shared the spotlight, as the girls also took first place, for a complete Middlesex varsity sweep.

James again seized first place, with a time of 16:45, a full 17 seconds ahead of a Pomfret runner - as well as 128 additional runners in the field.  Garrett, fighting off a (literal) fever, finished 3rd, followed by Peter  in 14th place, Lucas in 20th, and Jeff  in 26th, for a team total of 62 points.  That was enough of a margin over 2nd place Greens Farms Academy (79) and the aforementioned St. George's (85) to secure the victory.

Miles  (42nd) and Christian (53rd), our remaining varsity runners, also contributed to the win by displacing the 4th and 5th runners from fourteen other schools (thus driving up their total points).

The JV team also had a good day, with five runners finishing in the top 20: Jon Siu, Max, Jordan, Derin Hol and Khari.  The team finished 2nd in the race.
